Hi guys had the CEL on continuously for quite a while. It is the P0405 code. I have the Haynes Repair Manual and its been pretty good for alot of things but not really in depth for the EGR. Checked for 5volts between socket 2 and 4 on the harness. have that. Then it says to check for continuity between the pins of 1 and 5 and then 2 and 4. Have the 1 to 5 continuity but nothing on 2 to 4. all it says if I donty have any of these continuity, take to a mechanic. I realize you need an excellent diagnostic tool so you can operate the egr with so you can tell if it is stuck or malfunctioning. I was curious if anybody has had any of these problems and how you went about solving it. Hate to just go buy a new egr valve if thats not the root of the problem

 

OK put the Diagnostics tool back on and I have codes p1404,p0404,p0405 Took my egr off to check if the plunger had seized up from carbon. Cleaned with carbuerater cleaner and seems to be functioning just fine. Im assuming this means something electronic has failed inside the egr.
