Default 98 Silverado Climate control issue

Hey all new to the forum because i cant find the answer to my problem. I have searched google and this forum and havent found my answer.

So i recently got this truck for a steal of a price and found out my climate control only works on High (the fan only) nothing else works though only the fan comes on, i cant make it go to defrost/feet/head/ anything of that nature or even select ac or hot/cold. I was told i have to replace the whole thing and its a GM part only (300$) But i know its working because the lights turn on and it works on high, is there like a moduel i can swap onto it that will make it work? Or maybe something else wrong?

the fan not running at lower speeds could be the blower resistor do any of the air door motors work, take it out of the dash and check for bad connections i found a burnt resistor preventing the heater control solinoid from working, the lites are powered by another curcuit

the blower resistor, if bad, will cause the fan only to work on High..... if the blend doors are not working then it could be a control issue. look on Google, youtube or even the forum... for the way to calibrate the unit. My brother has a Dodge that did the same, and his needed to be recalibrated.... simple to do, just search for the process...... good luck
