I have a 99 silverado z71 with 198xxx that has developed a popping sound when 4wd is engaged. The sound appears to be coming from the transfer case. I have had the chain in the t-case (it did have slack), the t-case cover with bearing assembly, and clutches replaced and it still sounds like gears slipping or popping. Any clues would be great!!
