Default ABS and Brake Light

I have a 2000 Silverado. The ABS and Brake light come on at the same time. This happens 5-20 times per week. The Cheverolet dealership said it was the main board and would cost almost 1k to replace. I had a 2001 Suburban that did the same thing. They did replace the board. It's hard for me to believe I have had this problem with 2 vehicles and there isn't a service bulletin on this that could save me at least half the money. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks,
Alvisk

It's possible that something is grounding out at the two lights. Did the same problem get fixed with the Suburban when you replaced the main board? If it did, then you should just get a new one. Try other places than the stealership, though.

It did fix the Suburban. Seems like a common problem like this should be addressed by the factory. Has anyone else heard of this problem? Let me know.
Thanks

Having the exact same problem on our 2001 Silverado. It used to be one of the lights, either the ABS or park brake that showed up periodically. But now has progressed and is happening on a frequent basis, almost nonstop. Not sure what we are going to do.
