Adding A Trailer Wire Harness

Adding A Trailer Wire Harness
I just purchased a 2002 Silverado with no factory trailer harness. I would like to add trailer wiring. I only need the flat 4 wire. Am I able to buy a plug and play harness for this somewhere or is it more involved. My brake lights and turn signals are separate in back. Thanks for any help.

there should be a blunt cut wiring harness above/near the spare tire all ready for use. The wires will be in a black plastic loom. pull the wire out of the loom and you will see a white taped label that will describe what each wire is for. All you need to do is splice in your 4 pin connector.
I did this for my 2000 which did not have a trailer hitch; even the bumper hitch was unused. I picked up a class iv hitch at pick'n pull for $20 with the seven pin connector. If I ever what to run a brake controller, all I have to do is run one wire.
