Default aftermarket pulleys? are they worth fooling with?

KRC SBC SERPENTINE PULLEY KIT,CRANK & WP,CHEVY,30%,BLCK is this something i should invest in for some extra hp? it seems tempting but is it really worth it or is it just bs? my sbc has a crank pulley diameter of 7 3/4". the water pump is about 6". these pulleys are - crank=2 1/2" and water pump= 3 1/2". shure theres a weight difference but would that create a big power boost being the crank is spinning quicker and has less mass the fight with. would this make the water pump put out more?

I had them along time ago on my suv. A week later I took them off. did not really notice a big change. big problem was the volts ran way to low at idle.

I have never personally used them. I have heard people have had problems with the A/C cooling and the alternator providing enough amperage at idle. If you live in a warm environment, you might have a problem. Again I don't know from first hand knowledge, but I would guess the manufacturers use the proper ratio for the pulley size on the various accessories run by the belt. Otherwise the would have complaints about these issues from consumers. On the other hand, manufacturers are trying to squeeze every bit of fuel mileage from their vehicles. if they could have used different size pulleys, they probably would already have done it.

Hope this insight is helpful.

I think you are likely to only see real power improvments with pulleys at top end, I agree with desrtrat installing electric fans would be the better choice for reducing engine drag.
