I have an 04' Silverado 1500. I am installing an aftermarket stereo. I have removed the old one with no issues, bought the wiring harness, mounting kit, and antenna adapter. I have wired the harness to what I am assuming to be the correct way (might not be as it is not working). I get the noise of the CD player cycling when I connect everything and turn the key, but I do not get any lights on the face plate of the stereo....
I do not have the Bose audio system.
Not sure what I am doing wrong here, any thoughts??

Sounds silly but once its cycled did you hit the power button? or Source button..sometimes without a clock set it will appear with no lights as if its not working. Otherwise just make sure you have power, accessory and ground and a good fuse in the back of the unit and under the hood. if all that stuff is good the radio maybe bad itself. ive had all the above scenarios happen while installing radios in all kinds of cars i used to own or work on for friends

The thought of trying the power button had crossed my mind, and I just tried it, with no success. I tried pushing it briefly, and holding it for a few seconds. I have good fuses, and good connections. I tried inserting a CD, it took it, didn't play it, but ejected it when I pushed the eject button...

I have all the wires on the wiring harness matched, with the exception of the orange wires. My stereo unit only has an orange/white stripe wire. My harness has a solid orange, and an orange/white stripe.
On the harness, solid orange says: Illumination/Dash light. Orange/white says: Dimmer. The "Dimmer" wire is currently not connected to anything, its taped off.
Therefore, the orange on stereo is connected to orange/white on the harness.

I am using a Kenwood KDC-X595 if that means anything to anyone.

are you sure your yellow (power), red (ignition), black (ground) are securely connected?

Yes. All connections are solid.

I'm hoping that's not the case... I might give it a day or so to see if anyone randomly comes up with something.

So you can audibly hear the cd spinning inside the deck, but no lights on the deck
and no music being played out of the speakers?
All I can say is make 100% sure all the wires behind the deck are firmly connected
make sure the faceplate is firmly pressed on.

It may be possible you have a wire grounding out somewhere.
Take the deck completely out of the compartment and set it on your dash or something and see if it works.
If no than strt jiggling wires.

Do you have onstar?
IIRC there is some special harness or plug you have to have

No onstar. Checked wires, all good. Face plate is in good also. Still not mounted in. Not sure but someone mentioned the black wire is not needed in some vehicles...

I've also read about running the red wire directly to the fuse box instead if connecting it to the wire harness. I'm not sure if that's just for older vehicles or not. Any thoughts?
