Default amp gauge.

hello guys. i was wondering what is the average or normal reading for amps on a 1994 1500 w/t with the 4.3 engine.when it is running it reads beetween 13 and 14, but with the lights on drops to allmost 9 and with the signal on, the gauge reading "flicker".up and down.it is a replacement alternator, thats been on the truck for over 6 months now. the only weird thing i notice is the it "kind of sound" like when you have a weak battery to start. will a battery going bad do that?. thanks

that gauge isnt reliable. It goes from 9 to 19 with 14 in the middle, but exactly what is the range when the headlites and turn signals are on? 9? 10? Nope. Do yourself a favor and add an aftermarket Ammeter/voltmeter.
