i have a 02 silverado 2500hd and occastionally (not all the time) when i go to start up my truck it will start but its ver weak and then jumps up to what idles at. the rpms go from down to up for a secound and thats it. its almost like when i start the truck it dosnt want to but then it picks up. is this a sign of my fuel pump going bad?

 

Possibly the fuel pump. Check fuel pressures, KOEO and running. Sounds like the Idle Air Control (IAC) is sticking or bad. Remove the IAC and clean both surfaces, the IAC plunger tip and the seat with carb cleaner. If this does not work, then replace the IAC first. This would be the cheapest option first. A bad/dirty Mass Air Flow(MAF) can also cause your symptoms. Check also for vacuum leaks.
