I have a 2001 Silverado 1500 (2WD) with a 4.8 V8. The red battery "light" randomly comes on and off. The truck has been doing this for about 1 year now. The battery and alternator have been tested OK and working just fine over the last year (even though the battery light comes on and off every 30 seconds). All wiring from the battery to the alternator to the starter have been checked and look good. Any ideas on what might be causing the red battery "light" to randomly come on and off?

I searched the forum and found several posts on this same topic in the past, but can't seem to find a good answer in any of the posts. Are there any GM mechanics out there familar with this seemly common problem and know exactly what is causing this? What do I need to replace?

Your computer probably needs to be reset like when it tells you to change your oil. If I remember you turn your key on but do not start and then press your gas pedal to the floor three times in a row. It is in your owners manual. It usually takes me about 10 tries to get it to take on my truck so if it does not work the first time keep trying.
