If you take the belt off and there is no noise there could be rubber build up on the pullys from the old belt. Put some valve lapping compound on the belt and run the truck for a day. the buildup lets the belt slip thus the noise.

You probably won't spin it fast enough to hear. It also won't have any load on it. When you spin them check to see if the feel good or rough. If it feels rough then the bearing is going bad.

I have a 1997k 1500 I fixed mine after 2 new belts and a altanator. You have to flip the belt inside out

Best way to stop the squeak is to turn the belt inside out. It cost me around $150 to figurer out but it works after 2 years of listen to the squeak

Ivory bar Soap helps reduce belt squeal also.

I had all belts pulleys and tensioner changed in my 2008 Silverado.. still squeaking. I'm having the water pump and bearings changed as we speak. I hope that's what it is..I'm beyond frustrated. How hard is it to find the source of a squeak. 😢 I hope this fixes it. I've already put in about $700 into my truck in the past 2 weeks. Expensive damn squeak!

Default Same issue as everyone else.. can’t figure out the damn squeal.

98 GMC 1500 5.7L. I just installed brand new alternator, beings that I’ve been having issues with no power. Also installed new water pump recently (fixed overheating issue). I went with a salvaged alternator first off but didn’t fix any power problems, and also seemed to be squealing a bit. So in goes new alternator but squealing got worse after that, still no juice from alternator. Tensioner pulley was wobbly so just replaced today. Still same squeal. Havnt tried starting with the belt off. If the squeal is still there then what would that entail if anyone would know? And also why am I not getting charge in alternator? I’ve checked the wires and terminal but seem to be fine. Also has new battery

I’m having the same problem with belts off. Could it be timing chain? Did you find out the problem
