I have a set of A/Ts on my 03 1500. I love them to death, they're big and tough, but quiet on the road.

Gas mileage depends not only on tire type, but on the engine size, and any other modification. (And, of course, the size of the tire)

You need to remember, the bigger the tire, the harder on the engine, and therefore the worse the gas mileage. I have the 4.8 with 35's and 4.56 gears, so my mileage is HORRIBLE (less than 14mpg mostly).

So the type of tire is not as important as the size. What engine do you have and what gearing mods (if any)?

I have a two-wheel-drive 2004 Silverado 1500 -- with the 5.3L V8 and automatic transmission. A previous owner upgraded the wheels from 16" rims to 17" inchers (the same wheels that come with the Z71 package), and they're shod with 265/70R17 Goodyear rubber.

I get about 15 mpg in city driving and have gotten as much as 19.5 highway mpg on a recent trip to Michigan (and I was not driving slow at all). I am getting new tires in December and plan to buy Michelin "highway rib" tires, both for good mileage and a smooth ride.

I am not expecting an improvement, but will definitely be pleased it it happens. I did not buy my truck to be an 'economy car' - as I have a Nissan Sentra that serves as my grocery getter and commuter car. The truck is my "toy" and the Flowmaster mufflers make such beautiful music. LOL!

** Good luck with your BFG tires. I have a set of them on my Sentra and am very happy with them. **
