Default biodiesel in a duramax?

Has anyone on here ran biodiesel in their duramax? I'm just wondering. I saw a kit for sale but didn't know if it was worth the trouble.

Good question, I'd also check with GM / your dealer to make sure it will not impact your power train warranty...

I run biodiesel and blends in my K2500 . I have met guys that run it in their Duramax engines. Biodiesel can be blended at any ratio with petro-diesel without modification.... What is this kit you are talking about?

Just beware of using biodiesel in colder climates. I have heard that it is a bit "temperamental" when the ambient temperature drops below 30 degrees.

Right. and #2 gets tempermental below 0 degrees F. and #1 diesel another 20 degrees lower. So, add heat to the system. Or blend your fuel with another fuel that has a lower gel point (temperature where fuel begins to have congealed waxs and thicken). My biodiesel gels at 35 degrees. A 50/50 blend gels at about 15 degrees. I always have see though containers of fuel sitting outside. Helps me know what is in the tank! .... and that matters to all of us. In super cold arctic, you have to run kerosene (#1 diesel more or less) AND preheat the fuel from tank to injectors.
