Default Brake Pad Problem ?????????????

Not my Silverado problem but I can more easily find my responses here.So many different topics, titles here.I,m sure some of you may have some good suggestions.

Disc pads on front of my 1998 Olds wear out fast because of uneven wear from the front to back of each pad......One end of pad wears down to metal while other end still has 3/16 of pad remaining. Never seen or heard of this before.I'm just a shadetree mechanic but have changed padson acouple dozen cars. Never had this happen.
