Default A/C compresser question

got a 02 2500hd which was making a chirping/squealing noise from AC compressor. changed the belt but no difference. ended up taking belt off and been running it without air. wondering if there is a bearing that can be replaced without replacing the whole compresser, and not too keen on spending the kind of money they get for a new compresser.......thanks for any help

Get an A/C compressor from a scrap yard with a warranty. MUCH cheaper.

Hi flyingfinn73,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

The A/C compressor on this model has it's own belt and tensioner, correct?

Are sure it's not just the tensioner that's squealing?

Default A/C compresser question

I had my Tensioner and belt changed today and the sound quit. However the BF Goodrich Tensioner was not good enough we needed to get a genuine GM part. I have a 2500 6.0 liter Suburban. After the GM Tensioner it was great. Except the ac blows hot they missed something will take back. At least the noise is gone.
