a/c compressor problem ??
I have a 1990 GMC 2500 Suburban 350 cubic inch with throttle body fuel system. My a/c stopped working and upon inspection I found that the electric clutch in the compressor is not getting electricity...the fan runs fine but compressor will not start...I hot wired the compressor to the battery and a/c system works fine...makes and blows cold air. What can I check for the electric supply to compressor ?? The fuse in fuse block is fine...need to know how to troubleshoot the electric circuit for compressor clutch. I have the service manuals and it is not mentioned in either book ?

There is a pressure switch on the side of the accumulator (dryer) unit......It could be that switch....or you have lost enough pressure of coolant in the system that the switch wont close. The dryer is usually on the passenger side on the firewall....at least on my 97 it is.

thanks poncho !!
Hey buddy...thanks for the great pics...once we got the compressor running, we topped of the Freon...maybe I should reconnect the electric supply to the clutch (remove hot wire) and see if it spins ?? I will let you know how it goes...thanks !!
