A/C Cyling all the time
I just bought an '04 Silverado, 5.3. The A/C compressor cycles even with the control turned off!! I'm taking it back to the seller tomorrow, but want to be a little educated as to the cause. I'm thinking just a bad switch? Any body have/had the same problem? Thanks.
all new a/c systems on newer vehicles have the compressor cycling all the time. when you are either using the a/c system for cooling cab or defrosting, the difference between new and old is old compressor cycles on and off. newer ones are on constantly. thus the reason for such a massive puddle of water condensation being generated by newer a/c systems. as for the compressor being on even when your not using the system. IE- fan is off, defrosting is off, cooling is off and its still cycling... does your a/c work. does it defrost fine? any noises when compressor engages/disengages? if everything else works. then i dont think its a switch. if replies after this one are slow to come, call local advance auto, oreilly's, autozone or anything. or pepboys. and just ask them a quick question. then if they say they cant tell you without paying. say you need to know what the issue is and if they have the part so you can come in. then dont come in if its an easy fix lol. gotta know how to word things.
