Default cam

I have a rst silverado 1500 4.8L v8...i want to put a new cam in it, any suggestions on what would be the best choice and how to go about it?

i know that comp cams are a real good choice but it depends on if you're goin to change the rockers and springs to...if you know how to do it or have a friend that knows how to do it then do it yourself. Should take most of the day though. About the lift and duration you want, you might want to check out youtube and see what they sound like before you just go and order one

i have a 5.3 silverado and was thinking of doing the same so i did research on it and it would have cost me and arm and a leg. haha. the guy i went to said he would charge me for labor alone just about 1500 and i would have to go out and get a cam or he would get me one i said the hell with that. lol. i am still waiting to see if i should cam this engine up or just swap with an LS1. good luck to you regency106 let us know how it goes for you.
