Yes, you have to look at the speakers, or you can call chevy, im sure they will know. or better yet email them, im sure that will work.

just google your nearest chevy deler then call them.

specs should be on the magnet. unless you have an upgraded factory stereo, I doubt the speakers will handle a 400 watt amp.

Check with Crutchfield. They have adapters to mount a standard deck and have wiring harness prebuilt to make the install easy.

You can use the OEM speakers but they may have a much higher ohm rating than aftermarket speakers. I've seen some OEM speakers rated at 10 ohm and 12 ohm. Your sound will be much better with aftermarket speakers.

ORIGINAL: B1RDMAN

k thanks but i have one quesion. do you think it would still be okay if i change the stereo to a new deck, keep the original speakers and just hook up amps and sub. the amp is a 400 watt( McIntosh MC431) and the Subwoofer is (JL Audio).
The stock speakers won't handle it ... why do you think they're distorting to be begin with??

when i use the equalizer the music just becomes very f. up. what im plannin to do right now is just install a deck into the truck beucase my cd player doesnt work in that truck. it keeps on saying ERR. sometime it would work and sometime it doesnt. But yea i already bought the custom installation kit to fit the DIN instead of 2DIN. i got the wiring harness that makes it easier to install, and the adapter attenna.

Like what you said that the speaker may handle up to 400 watts. My amp is total max is 400amps, 4x100. So it should be fine. if it starts to blow ill probably just go buy a aftermarket speakers in the newspaper or something like that.
