Default Changing 5.3 to syn oil

I bought a 2005 Silverado Z71 with 42,000 miles. When it's time to change the oil again I want to switch to Mobil 1 5W-30.

Any issues with switching at this mileage?

Thanks!

I've only owned it for 500 miles.

I've used Amsoil in the past, but thought it was a pain with the way their system worked for ordering. Heard of Royal Purple. No clue how to get it. I want to be able to run to the auto store and get my oil when it's time.

Royal Purple is overrated. It doesn't do anything more/better than any other synthetic.

They've actually been regulated down on their advertisement campaign due to false advertising.

Same here, I've heard great things about Amsoil but you can't buy it by the case at Sam's....

alot of manufacturers are using mobil 1 synthetic in production, should be fine, just don't mix with petro based oils

then stop buying oil at Sam's.... who buys oil at Walmart? as redneck as i am, only oil i buy there is for flushes and for oil takers we own.

otherwise, Amsoil sold everywhere else i know of. GI Joe's for instance. I have it here in any weight at gas stations.

pricey it might sound, but at 15 000 miles between changes - it's cheaper than low cost oils.

guys, i drove 5 vehicles for years on Royal Purple. (btw, Shucks has it). so, don't start me on that oil. i still put it over any other synth oil on the market, except Amsoil. just happens to be that per my observation, and my truck preference, it likes Amsoil better. otherwise - 10 000 problemless miles easy(RP) on any vehicle that does not take oil.

Whew!! Where's the air conditioner? Everytime I hear the word oil on this thread, it gets really hot in here. Please don't start an oil debate again, use that neat search feature if you want to know about amsoil or royal purple. To answer the OP's question, your truck will not be hurt by changing to synthetic at 42k. Mobil 1 is fine.
