Default chevy pickup! (help)

Im in the process of selling my P.O.S. 87' ford f150 after some transmission issues (go figure!) and i wanted to get some input from you chevy guys. I really hate working on my truck unless i have to, and i heard chevys are much simpler to work on. My question is what older Chevy 4x4's were the most reliable and easiest to get parts for (pre 1990)? I live in a snow area and id like to get into a tuck that is reliable, upgradable and just good lookin! To be more specific, a full-size with an extended cab (if possible). Im not looking to wheel it, just want to get around safely when the snow starts flying. thanks for taking the time to read this post.

Default old trucks

if you want extended cabs your going to be looking 1989 to 1998 but i liked the older ones 1974-1987 for ease to work on .with the straight Axel leaf spring front .

Your best bet from my experience would be to go with a 1988-95 model pre vortec. Not that the vortec in the 96-98 models were bad the were just high maintinance and more packed in. Both my 88 and 95 with the TBI were very reliable and easy to work on. Plus in -40 degree weather they were the only ones to start for me, and sadley enough sold my 97 vortec because it didnt. Hope that helps.

I own a 1995 chevy silverado 4x4. I live in maine and we have some harsh winter with plenty of snow. 4x4 shift on fly works great, and with a set of good tires it near impossible to get stuck! I recommened 5.0(305) or the 5.7(350) for engines with throttle body injection (TBI), they are much easier to work on and hell reliable!
