Unhappy Chevy Silverado 1500HD Tranny Pan

Ok I have this silverado I bought it in 06 only has 21k on it. I attempted to drop the trannny pan with no luck. Everything came off fine, the shift bracket no prob with a T-40 and swivel head ratchet. I could not remove the pan. Is it me or do I have to remove the exhaust, heat shields?? moved the front drive shaft helped a bit but couldn't get the darn thing out. I want to put in a TCI pan with extra 2 qts and a drain plug is this possible?? and how??

Shouldn't be a problem for it to come off. Once driveshaft and the linkage are out the way, the pan is only held on by the 20+ outside bolts around the edge and it should fall. I put a larger pan on my 01 no problem and I have Longtube headers and 3" off road y-pipe

Thanks, got that far with no problem but exhaust and heat shield and front driveline were in the way. I went to two local tranny shops one said they couldnt do it and the other one told me they would have to disconnect the exhaust on one side and unbolt the tranny cross member support and move it back to make room for the pan. Shop told me it was no big deal and quoted me $125 for the job. No way I cold have done that laying on my back.

disconnect the shift linkage and then get someone to pry the y-pipe down with a pry bar. The pan will drop out if you move it the correct way. the driveshaft does not have to be removed. The y-pipe will not be harmed.
