Default click / snap sound from ???

well i got an odd one. 05 Z71 ext cab, L33 motor...i have this strange clicking / snapping sound, it sounds literally like a plug wire arc, but it comes from under the back of the truck. its random, seems to do it when i hit the gas sitting still, or put it in reverse sometimes itll snap twice.i cant describe itany other way than and electical arc snap.ive been crawling under this thing for 2 hours trying to track it down and just can not find it.
ive never noticed it before but its been cold since i got this truck and havent ever had the windows down much.
its loud just like when a plug wire arcs.
is this something i just missed that might be normal or has anyone ever heard a sound like this?
seems like it wants to idle a little rich when it does it also, seems to load up a bit. its not a plug wire, theres me and 3 people that hear it from the back of the truck so dont call me nuts.
and also WTF is that box up under the bed? kinda looks like an ECM....

I believe it is a "silent recall" basically if people dont bitch enough to GM they will let the problem persist and drive the owner nuts like he is hearing things !!!!

It is not a recall, Its only a bulletin to assist techs on diagnosing common problems. If your vehicle is under warranty, then it won't cost money, if you're out of warranty, then sorry but you're paying.....unless you have extended warranty then you just have to pay the deductible

ehhget....that document came from GM's service information website
