Computer troubles
Here is my dilemma. I picked up a 98 Z71 with a blown headgasket for a steal. I picked up a 350 ci 330hp crate engine also for very cheap. The crate motor had less than 1500km on it when I got it. I took all of the crate engine pieces and assembled them into the original engine block with the regular machine work needed. I replaced the stock pistons with a set of sealed power forged pistons. It is all back together and runs but it makes a strange sound at idle. Sounds faintly like a diesel, or a spark nock. Above idle noise goes away. I also have a code p1345 camshaft to crankshaft correlation fault. I do not have the proper code reader to set the timing on this model truck so looks like it has to go into the dealer. I am wondering what has to be done with the computer to get it to run right with this motor and cam combination. Timing parameters, chip, reprogramming, bigger fuel injectors? What is the best way to solve this problem? Any info I would greatly appreciate. Thanks
code 1345 is basically timing off. you are correct that a dealer needs to set this. timing is 100% controlled by the computer. no amount of tuners, parts or anything will solve the code until a shop can set the proper cam/crank offset and clear the 1345 code. once this is set properly, then you can add tuners, parts with better success.
