Default Crankshaft sensor code

I have a 08 Chevy Silverado 2500. Recently the truck was at idle and suddenly started to run crappy and cut off. Tried to restart took a few tries restarted but check engine light came on and ran rough at idle. Checked code it gave PO335 which is crankshaft sensor A malfunction. So we replaced the crankshaft sensor! We cleared code startrd truck check engine light came back on and truck still is not running right?? Also the RPM gauge is now not working truck is also lacking power when taking it down the road. At a loss here don't know what to try and check next any ideas???? Also when we cut check engine light off with the code reader truck backfires and runs worse??
