Default Crossing Over

I've been a dodge guy for a long time, but I'm getting sick and tired of Dodge reliability. I used to have a cummins powered Ram (the motor was great, but the truck wasn't) and now I'm looking at getting a 1500 Silverado 5.3l.

Anyways, my question is: are there any inherent problems with the 2000-2002 silverados? If I were to buy that same year of dodge, I would have to worry about cylinder head cracks, electrical gremlins, crappy transmissions etc.

I'm specifically looking for a 5.3l Silverado extended cab (I prefer 4 over 3 door), blue, with a manual transmission in the Illiniois area if anybody knows of one.

a friend of mine picked up a '02 xcab 4 door 4x4 in August, & hasn't had anything major go wrong with it yet. it has around 95K on it, still runs strong, and is pretty quick (for a 4.8L). the only problem he had, was the dealership had to "calibrate" the lock-up of the converter with the engine control module (they're words, not mine) just after he purchased it, as it sounded like the backlash in the rear was way out (severe "clanging" when going from the 'coast' side of the ring gear to the 'drive' side). i found this really strange since the diff. had been replaced about 9K before he bought it with 73K, but they did they're "calibration", and everything is fine now.
question, u said the 5.9 Cummins was great, which it is, but then u said had 2 worry about cylinder head failure. r u still refering 2 the 5.9?, 'cause i haven't heard anything like that b4-at least not on a wide scale problem. good luck in your search.

I was refering to the 5.9l magnum gasoline engine. I was told by several knowledgeable owners that the valve seats crack regularly.
