Default dent

I have a 2000 chevy silverado short bed pickup I got a dent today on the door (4 inches) I was just wondering if anyone knows if I can just open the door and push it from the inside. the dent is in the middle r and there is no damage to the paint.
Plese let me know thanks..

doesn't hurt to try.
If you feel better about getting a pro to do it, run "Paintless Dent Removal" through google

I doubt it. The metal is a lot more inflexible than you would think.
It's worth a shot though. It couldn't hurt to push on it a couple of times. Don't try using something to pry on it. You'll only make a mess.

I second the part about steel being a lot harder then you think.
if you do get access to it, be sure to spread out the area you push on, if possible use the palm of your hand or something equivalent.
As EvansBlue said you can make if worse if you don't take your time.
Don't beat on it directly remember to spread out the pushing pressure and adding a little heat may help

you wont be able to just push it out the metal is now streached you puch it out there will just be a bubble going out instead of a dent .... get yourself some dry ice wait for a good and hot day and apply the dry ice over(put in shop rag) the dent should pop out becuase the metal will shrink

I just don't think dry ice will work on a dent that is 4" wide. It may.

It is true about the meatal being stretched. A lot of times you will have a crease around where the dent was.

Also, find the bastard who committed this offense and put a dent in THEM.

If it was self inflicted... then God help your miserable soul.

After over a year of manouvering my truck through my gate, I finally dented pass side bed side. dent was fair, about 12 inches long, but smooth, as I have a large rag secured on the gate bar (my son put a long one into my Ranger once, so I got my lesson) to create a soft pillow for idiots like myself.
Basically, I took my wife's meat grinder with suction cup, cleaned dirt off the dent, applied suction - and pulled it out. can't even tell.
2 things you can try:
1. SLAMM the opposite door. sometimes it works.
2. yes, you can remove door trim very fast and push it out, if it's in a right place. even removing window regulator is no big deal, as it takes like 5 minutes to remove or install.

jriver85, You also posted this in the Body & Exterior and Detailing sections.
Double posting is against the rules.
Please post one thread per subject in the section you want it in and be patient. I have merged the one from the Body & Exterior section with this one and the replies are ordered chronologically.
