Default differences in silverados

I am just wondering what the major differences are between the 03-06 silverados. I am looking at a few from those years and am just wondering if there are any thing better between the years besides the HP difference. FYI i am looking at a 4 door half tons.

Thanks again

Besides costing less, one attractive feature about the 03s and earlier is they have less techno-crap, like TPMS sensors for tire pressure, ignition switches which still have an "accessory" station, eliminating the need for a 100$+ "data-port" adapter when you go to install a new radio, and computerized passenger nose-wipers.

If you looking at crew-cabs in the 1/2-ton range, (yeah, the CC's ARE nice) you're going to be looking at a rather limited selection, numerically speaking. Depending on how much you use the bed, you may also want to look into the Avalanches. Same CC, but you can extend the bed into the backseat only when you need it.

03-05 are pretty much the same. they have the same interiors and pretty much the same options
03-04 had rear disc brakes and 16" wheels
05+ had rear drum brakes and 17" wheels
03-07classics had no TPMS
03-07classics will need the $100 adapter for an aftermarket radio
05+ 3.42 gearing seems to be more predominent
03-04 3.73 gearing seems to be predominent
06-07classics recieved the 05+ HD truck front ends and hoods and look alot better
03 had 285hp
04+ had 295hp due to a PCM tunning difference
05-07classic had an optional 31hp all aluminum 5.3
06-07classic had the vortec max LQ9 345hp 6.0 option

Thanks a lot guys i am looking at a 04 crew cab with 87000 miles and its in good shape besides a dent on the front of the driver side rear fender and a dent also in the rear drivers side cab right down in the corner. The guy is asking 13 for it. it has the controls on the wheel, but its got the bench seats not the buckets. other than that the truck looks great and drives great. i asked the guy if he is negotable on the price because of the damages to the body and he said that he would be. So do you think 11 would be a reasonable offer?

Thanks again

Talk to your bank and see what their value on it is.

You should be able to compare that price to the prices in the truck trader magazines to get an idea of current value.

Two things to remember,

1) gas prices
2) the economy

It's a buyer's market right now. IMO, that sounds a little high for a half-ton.

That seems really high. Scrap the half ton idea and get a 3/4 ton. Who wants a truck with a 5ft bed anyhow?? Half the time my 8ft bed isn't long enough

If you enjoy a rock-solid ride, the 3/4 tons really are the sh*t.

I just got myself a 04 3/4 ton, 6.0, 2500 crew cab, lifted 6", brand new 315/70/17, full leather, bucket seats, power everything. I dont think I don't have an option in there. 60k miles. I paid 17k for it. I live in florida so there is no rot. Also I got up under it and looked in all the little pockets that would collect mud and sand and can't find anything. I don't even think the guy ever put it in 4wd.

KBB list it for $20,500

Keep looking the deals are out there. I love the ride of 3/4 ton. I think its the 2k lift kit he put in it. Ride is nice and smooth.
