Default Driving lights now dead

I bought this 2005 Silverado 2500 HD LS POS used this year and will probably be the lasth GM product I ever buy. I just replaced the Heater resistor, have to replace the insturment panel cluster due to crappy stepper motors, a transmission shifting issue that cleared on its own and now the daytime driving lights do not work. I had one light go out and assuming it was a bulb, replaced both with the proper 4114 bulbs. Now neither light works. Both bulbs have brown scorching around the bulb which I assume is normal. The recepticles has a brownish varnish substance on the plastic. Assume this is normal also. Filiments in both new and old bulbs are intact. Fuse is fine. Pulled the resistor block and it looks good. a yellowish spot on the side, but no obvious burning. Any suggestions? Do I need to pull the power and let it reset or something?

I have replaced hundreds of DRL lamps. They have not ever involved anything more than a simple bulb swap.check for voltage if good try to replace bulbs one more time with a diffrent brand, maybe you got a bad batch

Question

Ok, this is probably one of those DUH things. Do the DRL lamps only come on when the vehicle is in drive? I thought they came on when one started the vehicle. I went for a trip and both lamps are lit while driving. I can see the reflections in the vehicles in front of me. I miss the good old days of when you wanted your lights on, you flipped the switch. When you wanted your door locked, you pushed the button. This crap of this only works if this and this and this is on is driving me crazy.

It has been a while, but i think they will come on with the key on. There is one more thing that did not dawn on me till this morning. I am not saying you did this but it is possible, and would have caused your problem. On your headlight switch there are 4 positions. If you turn your switch against the spring counterclockwise and let go it will turn out your lights. I suspect it will turn out you DRL also.
