Default drop a v8 in a stock v6 2005?

I was wondering if it is possible, if the engine ever goes out in my 2005 1500 v6 and automatic, Could I buy a v8 from summit or something and take them to a shop and have it installed.. Or would I have to change the transmission?

I think you would have to change some of the wiring harness for sensors and such and probably the computer. Possibly the exhaust also. As said, anything is possible givin enough money. Question is...is the truck worth it and how much are you willing to spend?
