i have a 04 silverado with a 5.3. i was wondering if i can change over to an electric fan? if so, whats the difficulty level. should be professionally installed? are there any kits available? thanks. mike.

 

I used a set of LS1 fans on my 2000 Silverado. I had to make a couple of simple brackets is all. Contact me for info on how to wire it when you're ready to do it. I can refer you to someone who makes a wiring kit or I can lead you to the schematics to build your own harness. Simple afternoon job. Gm offered this on the 05s but they also went with a longer radiator. You can swap in a complete setup from an 05 or later also.

right on. i appreciate the info. yeah i heard they went to that set up cause it helps with engine wear and horsepower.

 

I picked up a solid 1/2 mile per gallon when I did the swap.
