- Chevrolet Silverado GMT800,GMT900, and K2XX How to Replace Power Window Regulator
Step by step instructions for do-it-yourself repairs
Electric window stopped working
The driver window on my 2000 Silverado 1500 will not open. There is a clicking sound when I push the switch, but no movement. The dealer service tech guessed it was the motor, and estimated it would cost $350-400 + parts to repair. I might be able to do the repair, but can't find any instructions on how to remove the interiordoor panels, but I don't want to break anything by forcing it. Does anyone have any guidance on removing the panel or know where to get good guidance? Thanks.
First remove the door handle bezel and the switch panel. The doorhandle bezel isheld in place by four plastic retainers. Use a flat bladed tool. The switch panel lifts up at the front and then out.
I believe there are three screws holding the door trim panel. One is at the bottom front of the door trim panel. Two more are at the top center, I think in the door handle area. Once these three screws are removed, slide the door trim panel up to release it.

Thanks, I have the panel off and am down to what I believe is the motor. I have power to the motor when I push the switch. The motor seems to besuspended from the mechanism with 4 star headscrews, but I am only able to get a driver on three of them. The fourth is not accessible as the cutout in the metal door lining restricts access. Or, there is another way to get it off that I am not seeing. I want to be careful to not mess up the allignment of the window mechanism. I would appreciate any additional advice.
Removal Procedure- Motor
[ol]Raise the window glass. If the window motor is inoperable, remove the glass window to gain access to the window motor retaining screws.
Remove the door trim panel.
Remove the water deflector.
Remove the door speaker.
Support the glass.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the window regulator motor.
Remove the 3 bolts (1) from the window regulator motor located on the front side of the motor.
Important
Do not allow the cable gear to come out of the housing. Failure will result in the cable coming off the spool.
Separate the motor from the cable housing by wiggling the window motor. Observe the orientation of the window motor.
Remove the motor from the window regulator assembly. [/ol]
