Default Electronic 4x4 transfer case or.........

the manual transfer case shift on the floor?

I have a 91 Chevy 4x4 with the transfer case shift on the floor. It has been very dependable.

I now have a chance to buy a 2010 Reg Cab 4x4, but it has an electronic transfer case switch on the dash. Does anybody have this? Are they dependable, or should I look for a truck with the shift on the floor?

Thank you.

Rob

I had two work trucks in a row, for a combined total of 17 years. They both had the floor shift for the transfer case. What I never liked about them was in cold weather (Michigan's U.P.), you really had to reef on that shift stick to get it to come back into 4 wheel drive. During that time my wife had a Blazer for 9 years with the electronic shift. No problems, and you just turn a little dial and you're in 4x4. My latest truck is a 2010 Silverado ext cab 4x4 and I chose the electronic shift.

I have the electronic shift on a 99 z71. Knock on wood I've never had a problem with it. My friend had one that went out because those switches don't like water or dirt but he replaced the switch(easy fix). I would have rathered the floor, but i would buy the truck your looking at.
