Change 4x4 transfer case Sub to 2wd
I have a 2010 Sub with 6L80 Transmission 4x4 with single speed transfer case. I want to flat tow it behinmd my motor home. Remco makes a lube pump for the 6L80 transmission BUT I can't tow it with the single speed transfer case. Can the single speed transfer case be changed to either the 2 speed transfer case (That can be towed) or can I get rid of the 4x4 transfer case and go to a staright 2wd so I can use the lube pump? (the 2012 sub 2wd rear wheel drive has the exact same transmission so I am OK with the lube pump option if I can just get rid of the transfer case problem.
If the transfer case could be removed and the vehicle turned into a 2 wd then I could do away with the Tow Dolly and save alot of hassle with the addition of a lube pump. The tow dolly hookup and parking at Rv parks is a big hassle. I am not worried about resale value since I drive them until they die. I previously towed my 2000 suburban for 10 years flat and it is alot easier than dealing with the tow dolly which has additional tires and bearings etc to maintain. So I am wondering what the actual modifications are to become 2 wd only by removing the single speed transfer case. Or if it is easier - modify it to a 2-speed transfer case so there is a true Nuetral and according to chev then can be towed without a lube pump. I am also considering a trade but I know I will lose at least $10k on a trade and unfortuneately I need to have a vehicle that carries 7-8 people to tow and there are not many choices.
