Default Emergency Brake Indicator Light

The Emergency Brake Indicator remains lit after I release the brake. When I engage the brake the indicator light brightness increases.

The light is activated by a pressure switch on the pedal. Check to see if the switch is out all the way when released. If it is, check you brake lights to see if they all work. Some vehicles have a setup where if a light goes out, a light on the dash lights up.

Does it light even though you don't engage the park brake ?

If it does there may be a problem with low brake fluid or the sensor.

I am having a similar problem. When I release the emergency brake, the warning lamp does not go off completely - it stays on very dimly. Even when I turn off the ignition, and remove the key, the lamp stays on very dim.
