Default emergency flasher button will not work

I have the obs pickup, 2000 model

The emergency flasher button will not work,

You push it down and it's suspose to pop up and the flashers start working.

you can push the button down but it will not pop up to the on position.

Think a little wd-40 would help it or other material? May have dirt and stuff in switch as they mounted switch on top of steering column and I do not spend a lot of time cleaning the old work truck, if you know what I mean.

If lube would not work, has anyone ever changed this switch?

Thanks for your assistance as I need the flashers from time to time in my work. Must get it fixed.[/align]
