I have seen some great info on this topic but I need more. Have the dash a part and removed orange outer coat to reveal 2 white wires. These wires are very brittle and hard to work with. I have not been succesful. Is it possible to replace the shifter and a whole new wire? And also it appears that it plugs in to another set of wires at my knees below the steering wheel. Is it as simple as unplugging? 2000 Chevy Silverado 5.3 Z71 any insight would be great.
