Default Engine stalling when hitting the gas

I drive a 1995 GMC sierra with the 4.3 liter v6.

Ok sometimes when I am getting ready to take off from a stop sign if my RPM's are below about 1800 if I press the gas very much at all the engine will stall and almost die. It lugs down and the RPM's drop really low but if I let my foot off the gas and press again or just keep my foot on the gas the RPM's will jump back up after a second or so.

What could be causing this?

Have you replaced the fuel filter lately? How long has it been since the last tuneup?

It has a like 3 week old fuel filter and it has been a while since a tune up. Like 3 years.

I would try a tune up. Try to get everything Acdelco. Chevy came out of the factory with Acdelco and they like it!
