Default RE: engine swap

My 97 ext cab Chev 4x4has a 5 liter engine with195,000 km and it started to make engine noise last fall, the noise goes away after it warms up, Ithink it piston slap. I'm kinda worried about the engine because I tow a 5600 lb trailer in the summerand thoughtI'd upgrade to a newer 5.7 liter so it dosen't blow up on the road. The truck's in good shape and all, alittle rust but no big deal, I'm on abudget about $3 grand.
If I can use most of the 5 liter engineparts for the swap I might be able to save a few bucks.
I'm not sure about the ignition system will the 5 liter components work?
If the heads won't fit from 5 liter to 5.7 will I need new valve covers?
So any help here iswelcomed
