Default Exhaust questions

I just bought an '06 2500HD 6.0L, regular cab, long bed, 5 speed.... ive pretty much made up my mind on a flowmaster muffler, but my question is too whether run it out the side just before the rear tire or run it straight out the back... i like the look and idea of less work of running it out the side but have seen different opinions saying it made the performance of the motor go to s***.... just looking for some help on deciding what to do

I like it running out the side myself.
I have true dual 40 series, very nice sounding.
I cant hear any "drone" sound others say they emmit

Out the side is a lot nicer if you do a lot of trailer towing.

I prefer turn-downs right out of the muffler I think it looks much cleaner and that way, but to each their own.

nothing noticable.
essentially free-flowing straight out the back could potentially net you a miniscule ammount of power, but nothing noticable.

I would say the less bends the better, but as stated, it would not be anything noticeable.
