Default Flowmaster 40 or 50 series?

I am starting to price exhaust systems for my truck. I have done a lot of research on the different companies on this site and have learned some very useful information. In pricing systems, a guy who I really trust locally recommended either the 40 series or 50 series Flowmaster with stainless tips(do a decent amount of boating and fishing in saltwater). I told him that I want something with a nice deep sound on my '07 NBS 5.3.

I know that the 50 series would be a little "deeper" sound but just wondering about what everyone likes on these trucks and about cabin noise. Don't want a lot of that as I have my wife and 2 year old, plus I'm not 18 anymore(no offense to you younger guys).

Any help would begreatly appreciated, just trying to make an educated decision before I spend the money. Also kind of curious on what anyone paid for this setup. I feel like I am getting a fair price.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, his price was $300 for the kit, stainless tips, and what he called a "custom" install, whatever that means. It may be my ignorance but can you really customize what Flowmaster already puts together. I'm still learning about this stuff so I admit to being a rookie.

I've also wondered the same thing. I'm tired of getting exhaust tickets with running practicaly straights since my cat went to crap. I was thinking about the 40 serires before i even heard of the 50 series. What is the difference(s) between the two?

I have a 50 series on an old ford of my it sounds great, but I just installed a force II (it comes with a 70 series)on my'95 1500 and the differnce between the two are amazing. At idle the 50 series was alot louder than the 70 series. The 70 series is great as well, at idle it has a very low rumble to it andgoing down the road it is pretty quite, butits sounds awsome when you accelerate, not loud, but awsome.Anyway just my 2 cents.
