so it turns out my act is covered under warranty still

so its at the dealership getting fixed for free... well untill they change the 02 sensor and the fuel filter

If the cat has failed while still under warranty then something has caused this failure and while replacing the converter may make the engine run better you will probably still have the original problem that caused the cat to fail in the first place.
The most common culprit is a leaky intake manifold gasket.
