Is it possible to change the gearing in the ifs front axle on an 05'? I want to put lower gears because of tire size

 

Are you swaping the rear also? And what gear are you wanting to put in.

 

Yes i'm doin the rear too, i'm either gonna do 4:11s or 4:56, I'm gonna have 37' tires, and i want the gearing to even out like having 3:73s with stock tires, any way to figure this out?

If you are going to have 37 inch tires i would not go any lower then 4:56 if not get 5:11 from what i have read. So the anwser to your first question is yes you can regear the front axle.

 

I'm no expert but if you're adding larger tires and want to end up with the equivalent of 3.73 gears wouldn't you want to go with a lower ratio than what you have now?You want to increase RPMs right? Wouldn't going with a 4.1 or 4.56 cause a further decrease in RPM? What am I missing here? I'm curious because I'm in the same boat since I want to put 35" tires on my truck that has a 4.1 ratio now.

 

If you have 3.73's your drive shaft will turn 3.73 times for every one time the tire turns. If you have 4.10's your drive shaft will turn 4.11 times for every 1 time the tire does. In turn raising your RPM.

 

Yes if your have the stock tires lower gears will raise rpm, but then if you put bigger tires, it evens out. Lower gears just make it easier on the motor to turn bigger tires. If your keeping the stock size tireand install lower gearing it would be good for bottom endpulling for example
