Default Fuel Gauge reading improperly

After changing the battery today, I got in the truck to start it and noticed that the fuel gauge is now reading on the opposite side of the gauge where there are no markings.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a quick/easy fix to get the gauge to read correctly?

Any info would be appreciated.

Have you opened up the fuel tank and looked to see if the float is jacked up? My gauge just stopped working and i dropped the tank and looked at the float and the fingers that ride on the sensor bar had got brittle and broke off. you could check that. if not, im sorry but i got nothing

Oh yeah, it happens.

The gauge has gone "over center". Thing of it is, ya gotta tell us what kind/year of truck???

It almost sounds like an issue with the gauge or the sender.
