Fuel level sensor failure
#2
Please describe the issue and symptoms of your vehicle.
Is your fuel gauge reading incorrectly? Do you have any trouble codes?
Single or Dual tank?
Bulletin - inaccurate gage: https://www.justanswer.com/gm/20il2-...e-stopped.html
there's also a bulletin PIT4294E: The condition is related to excess water in non-ethanol fuel at below-freezing temperatures causing ice crystals in the fuel which interferes with the proper operation of the fuel level sender.
I would first verify if the sensor is in fact faulty, and the problem isn't somewhere else.
Disconnect the sensor harness.
Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm between the low reference circuit terminal B and ground.
test for a value between 41 ohms and 119 ohms between the signal terminal C and the low reference terminal B
Replacement procedure is to drop the tank, remove the lock ring, and replace the sensor.
