Fuel pump issues
Hey all,
New user here, but I could sure use some help from anybody willing. I've got a 1984 C20 (Silverado) 7.4L V8. The mechanical fuel pump was installed wrong, and now the pushrod for that pump won't work. I think it's bent, as I can't get it out to replace it. So, I have two questions: 1) Any ideas on how to get it out, or 2) Should I go to an electric pump?
I've attached pictures of the space/pushrod issue I'm having, so you can see what I'm seeing. Again, any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Yes, it will move. I can pry the pushrod up, with some force, and then crank the engine, and it will push the rod back down. That's about all the movement I get out of it though. I think the pump was installed on top of the pushrod, rather than having the rod on top of the pump, so when the truck was started, it bent the rod.
........Times 2, that's the easiest solution. JMHO, mount the pump as close to the fuel tank as possible with a good inline filter, they tend to PUSH better than PULL. Don't forget to put a plate where the fuel pump mount's to the engine, you will have one bad oil leak. JMHO............good luck.david
