I have a chevy k3500 4dr 4wd srw. Everyone that has owned a chevy knows the fuel gauge jumps all over the place. Sometimes i get almost half a tank jump. Given i also onlyy have a 18 gal tank.

Is there a way to fix this jumping gauge?

 

I have a 99 extended cab. The fuel gauge is steady like a rock. No jumping. I have owned many Chevys and have never had a jumping fuel gauge except once when sulphur in Shell gas ruined the sending unit in the fuel pump. They paid to replace the fuel pump.

 

So im gieasing my aemdong unit could be going bad. My 98 2 dopr tahoe dod the same thing just not as bad.

I accelerate it drops a qtr tank stop it pops up a qtr tank.

 

That's how all my Chevy's have been... I'm just used to it.

 

Check for loose wire at the fuel sender unit, gauge or ground.
