Fueling Issue

Fueling Issue
My 2006 Silverado doesn't seem to want to take fuel even when the tank is empty. There is a loud hissing coming from the filler neck and the check engine light is on. Any ideas what the issue may be?

Clogged fuel vent will make the check engine light come on, so will leaving your gas cap off when you start your car. I was told the light will go off if there is no problem, but it takes over 100 cycles, meaning starting and stopping your car over that many times. Pretty stupid, huh?
Anyway I betting you got a twist or something plulgging your fuel line vent. Did you go through a lot of mud or bunch something up under your fender or maybe it's just a defect showing up in the vent line. It should be cheap to fix and a decent mechanic shop should be able to turn off the check engine light when they do it.
