Default Getting a new truck. Few questions.

I am getting an 83 Chevy 1500 Silervado. Short Box, Single cab. 305 with a 700R4 tranny. I am a ford guy and built my ford pickup pretty good (motor, suspension, brakes,etc...)but I am starting to hate any truck that has that symbol. This truck has only 69K miles all original. (parents owned it, dad has had it for many yrs since divorce). This truck has 35x12.50 tires, 4 inch suspension lift, 3 inch body. NO dents at all except a very tiny one in the passenger rear quarter. Paint GOOD shape. My questions are: The tranny in it was rebuilt at 15K miles cause somthing was wrong with it, Factory recall rebuilt it.

Is this tranny strong enough to handle a Beefy 350?(i.e. heads, pistons, crank, etc...)

The auto hubs in the front axle (8.5 inch 10 bolt) How hard is the manual hub conversion? Worth it?

How much should an axle re-gear cost? Factory 3.73's run in 3rd gear (not in over drive yet) at 65ish its at 1800rpm. Is 4.56's right for 35's to put the ratios back closer to stock?

Are the 10 bolt axles strong enough for mild off roading? Ive heard of the "C" clips pulling out or breaking im not sure which, How far would you have to go for this to occur? Im not a hard core wheeler, just every once in a while.

Did this truck come with the NP205 T-case? Truck is in another state so I cant exactly look at it.

I can help with the Tranny. The early 700R4`s are weak. Run it till it drops and then look for a 88-93 700R4. They have some case/valve bodyimprovements and are a much better tranny. The axles are o.k. but C-clip eliminators would be a good idea. 4.10`s might be a better option for gear ratio. As for the case I am not sure what the specs are but you could get the vin and stop by a good Cheby dealer and run the numbers.

Ive seen the C clip eliminator kits, but the only ones ive seen are for drag race apps. I dont know if there is an actuall difference. I am planning on the eliminator kit as the axle is the ONLY thing holding the tire on. I figured that is what I would have to do on the tranny. Ive heard of 10 bolts handling MILD off roading, Im not the type that slams the gas and throws **** every where. I got my FORD pickup to do that in.

Ok, I Decided to go with an axle swap. Partly because the housing it self is weak and the internals. I already need a re-gear on it so I might as well get an axle with they gearing and strength I want. What axle is strong enough for the 35's but the axle HAS to have a 6 lug pattern. Ive seen the semi float 14 bolts. Are they strong enough for Mild to medium use?
