Default New Guy with a few questions.

Hello everybody. Well I recently purchased a O2 impala with 109,XXX on it and I have a few questions. First my fuel guage is eratic and isn't accurate, what's the fix to this? Also I was told by my mechanic that the belt was worn so I went ahead and replaced that and now a week later the new belt looks as though it is fraying along the edges as well so I'm guessing something is eating the belts? Another problem I occasionally have is that when the car is at cruising speeds there is jerking every once and awhile but it only last for 2 seconds and I don't think its a misfire because the CEL isn't on.

eratic fuel gauge- may be caused by sulfur buildup on the fuel level sending unit-
a POSSIBLE fix, is to run a bottle of TECHRON.
Maybe 2.... see if that helps.if it doesnt then replacement....

the belt- look for loose or wobbly parts.
the last time I hadmy belt wear from the sides- the water pumpsshaft was failing- allowing wobble on the fan clutch.
this wasenough to make the belt rub on other pulleys......

Well I tried the techron and ran maybe 15 miles on it and haven't noticed any difference so far. To explain the fuel gauge problem a little more it's basically when I first turn the car on it seems like it's the accurate reading but as soon as I start driving it goes straight to a full tank and stays that way until I shut the car off. Also as I watch the belt as the car is running it appears that the tensioner is wobbly and that is still covered under warranty so I'm gonna look into getting that replaced.
